Affirming Your Faith (Catechumenate)

This program is the "new member class" for St. Luke's.  It is based on early church practices and is a program/class used to prepare new people to receive and/or renew their baptism.  The classes will begin in January 2008 and continue weekly until Easter Vigil (Saturday night prior to Easter Sunday) when the new members will be accepted into the church.

The classes consist of Bible study and several sessions dealing with the history of the Lutheran Church, the history of St. Luke's and an explanation of the Liturgy used in the church.  There are also rites that will be held during the 11 am services marking the seeker's progress through the program.  Each seeker has a sponsor from the church to go through the program with him/her.

This is a wonderful program and helps build strong relationships between the new seekers and the members of St. Luke's.  Please consider getting involved.  You will be truly blessed by the experience.

Spirituality Book Club

Our selected work in May is Timothy Keller’s, The Reason for God.  Keller is a New York City Presbyterian minister where in Manhattan he has led a mission church to 6,000 members.  This is a remarkably acclaimed work written for Atheists, as well as believers who need help in standing for what they believe in.  Keeping in mind that we have more in common historically with the first generation church (The Acts of the Apostles) than any other time in history, this will prove an enormously helpful read. Out next meeting will be Saturday May 10th at 4:00pm.

Women’s Study and Social Group
