St. Luke's is a place of refuge, renewal, and sanctuary

The carvings in the altar and the ambo symbolize Luke 24:32. The story of the road to Emmaus is a story about coming home. It is a story of healing and renewal. It is a story of excitement for sharing good news. It is, in fact, our story at St. Luke's Lutheran Church. The torches also reflect the symbols present in the other pieces. The concept of the torches is a cross and plaque supporting the light. The plaque is made of wood and enamel on copper.

The Chancel Cross is made of red oak and is 9 1/2 feet tall with cross arms of 9 1/2 feet. It sits behind and slightly to the side of the altar.
The Altar is 4 1/2 feet square and in the shape of an octagon which symbolizes renewal. The octagon shape is achieved with an inset of ebony in the four corners.

The Baptismal font design begins with the Greek cross reflecting the basic design of the procesional cross intentionally reflecting how we are buried with Christ through baptism. The entire basin and the outer lip are finished in deep blue and green mosaic tile, culminating at the center with bright reds and oranges in the logo.

The Rose Window ls located above the cross. The structure of the rose, looking at the widest lines, forms a Greek cross, the same shape used in the font and in the processional cross. The circle shape of the rose lends itself to the spiraling form of the symbol that is used in the other furnishings. Looking just at the colors of the rose, the more intense red and lighter pink colors, not only will you see a spiral moving inward to the right sided focus, but also a reflection of the disciples response of "did not the fire burn within us?"

The centerpiece of the Processional Cross again represents the feeling of "did not the fire burn within us" and is enamel on copper. It stands 7 feet tall.
