Pastor Tom Kidd

From 1974 - 1984, "Pastor Tom" served the Evangelical Lutheran Church In Canada, Lord of All Lutheran, Strathmore, Alberta; Ascension Lutheran, Calgary, Alberta, and Faith Lutheran, Powell River, British Columbia.

After ten years in the parish, Pastor Tom took a study leave where he completed a graduate program in Marriage and Family Therapy. Upon its completion he returned to the parish as pastor of St. Luke's, Bellevue, Washington. During the family's return to the Seattle area, Brenda maintained her career as an intensive care nurse at Children's Hospital. Children have gone off to careers and university.

Since accepting the call to St. Luke's in May of 1987, Pastor Tom has overseen three building expansions (new worship center dedicated June 27, 2004) and a growing program ministry. As Senior Pastor, one of his joys has been witnessing the growth of St. Luke's mission projects that stretch from Mexico to Madagascar, Russia, and the Philippines. As well as numerous local projects, St. Luke's was recognized by NBC in 1998 for its "Kid's Holiday Store" as an example of a local program that makes a difference.

His areas of responsibility are evangelism/witness, preaching/teaching, stewardship, mission development, and administration. As a registered Marriage and Family Therapist with the State of Washington, some of his time is spent working with couples and families

St. Luke’s strives for inclusivity, recognizing the individuality of each person. All are welcome, regardless of lifestyle or religious experience. A theme of St. Luke's is "belonging precedes believing." Whether one comes from a past with no religious experience or a different world religion, the attitude is everyone needs a church. We will trust the Holy Spirit to shape our confession.

Pastor Tom's personal interests are family, golf, running and being the pastor in charge of "play" and "golf."
