St. Luke's offers various worship styles
Summer worship services on Sunday mornings will include a great mix of traditional liturgy and hymns and informal style music. We are combining the talents of Carolyn on the organ along with the informal Worship Team to lead us through worship as we are Gathered to hear the Word, to partake of the Meal, and then be Sent to proclaim God's love to the world.
Thursday Noon Word and Sacrament
Beginning on Thursday June 26th, join us for a weekly Word and Sacrament worship service at noon. This is a great alternative both for those who may find the summer schedule for Sunday mornings challenging, and all who wish for mid-week spiritual nourishment.
Traditional Worship - 8:30am
The traditional service is a liturgical worship service using settings from the Evangelical Lutheran Worship hymnal, Now the Feast and Celebration, as well as other seasonal liturgies. Hymns are typically drawn from the Evangelical Lutheran Worship. The Lord's Supper is celebrated, and we invite all who call Jesus Lord to partake.
Informal Worship - 11:00am
The informal worship service follows a liturgical framework of a less formal character. Songs are drawn from a variety of sources with an emphasis on contemporary Christian song-writers. The Lord's Supper is celebrated, and we invite all who call Jesus Lord to partake.
Bibles
During the reading of the Word, we are encouraging everyone to make use of the Bibles located in the pews. Page numbers are given for both Old and New Testament readings as well as the Gospel reading each Sunday. You will notice that time will be given to allow all who wish to open the Bibles to do so before the Word is read.
WIGGLE Room
After the "children's message" portion of the service, the Fireside Room (aka the Wiggle Room) is available for children 3 - 6 years of age. Children under the age of 3 should go to the nursery if needed. In the Wiggle Room children can wiggle and talk, laugh and play and be supervised until they join you again for communion, or until the end of the service. It is Pator Tom's preference that your child come back to the sanctuary to receive Holy Communion, thus parents whenever possible please come get your children and take them back to the sanctuary to receive the Lord's Supper. (They can come back to the Wiggle Room afterwards if you desire.) This classroom will be available at the late service only, and will be staffed by volunteers. Childen over the age of 6 are encouraged to stay in the sanctuary with their parents.
